Musical Mozart! 'Xiah Junsu Ticket Power' Attracts Daegu

The musical <Mozart!>, that became the center of attention when it made idol group TVXQ member Kim Junsu (Xiah Junsu) the lead role, has ended its Seoul round of performances on the 21st and is now headed for its rural shows.

The first rural performance that is happening in Daegu's Gaemyung Art Center on the 26th has already attracted 10,000 people and many predict the show will attract large crowds every performance.

Analysis has people stating that Kim Junsu is the biggest component to this booming popularity. Kim Junsu's musical debut was a positive attribute to the marketing of the musical but many did worry that it would have negative consequences as well.

However, Kim Junsu broke the status quo set upon idol stars and critics have praised him for his relatively successful debut as a musician who sings his heart out and takes his work seriously. Four Mozarts with four different styles, played by Park Gun Hyung, Lim Tae Kyung, Park Eun Tae, as well as Kim Junsu, greatly appealed to the audience.

Not only this, <Mozart!> quenched the thirst of Koreans looking for a new genre and garnered much attention from the start. The flamboyant stage, lights and costumes were also a big component in attracting viewers.
After the European musical success generation of last year with French musicals <Notre Dame de Paris>, <Don Juan>, and <Romeo and Juliet>, many are curious as to how the success of <Mozart!> will affect the musical industry.
